When you think of Yale, there will always be stereotypes and stigmas for the 300+ year old University. The Yale Arts Blog pushes that boundary, and emphasizes the Art and Architecture library as their forerunner for information literacy and integration of Yale’s art community, besides focusing on technology and education.
The Yale Arts Blog is easy for the user to find, as it’s placed on the home Art and Architecture Library page, to the right, near the hours. The site is clear, organized and easy for the user to provide comments.
Most of the blog posts are snip-its of articles regarding art and architecture on an international scope. So, while the library site seems a bit segregated from the blog, I think the main purpose of the Art and Architecture blog is to remain a distinct entity from it’s host website. With this stated, there is a “research tip” located at the top left margin, for the library to infiltrate some assistance to the user. Besides, “Research Tools” as an indexed link.
If I was affiliated with Yale and art, I would be interested in reading and having an RSS feed to their site. There are numerous organizations, associations, links, updated journals, museums, galleries, etc. information in the Yale Arts Library Blog.
There are even commentaries suggesting other links and websites for further assistance for other users. This is what a blog is supposed to be about. Providing information, assistance, resources and having affiliates and other interested parties give their “two cents.” I especially love their statement in About, “It is an evolving beast, so check in often to see what’s new and exciting in the arts.”
